Canal+ teams up with Bouygues Telecom for new offering
Vivendi-owned French pay TV operator Canal+ has teamed up with service provider Bouygues Telecom to launch a new offering, Start by Canal, that will be available via Bouygues’ own set-top boxes.
The offering, which includes a selection of thematic channels and unlimited access to the Canalplay video-on-demand service, will make films, series, animated content and entertainment shows available live and via catch-up and is aimed at a family audience.
Start will initially be offered to subscribers who have signed up for Bouygues Telecom’s Bbox Miami+ offering, at no extra charge. Bouygues customers with a standard Bbox will be able to sign up for the service for a monthly fee of €9.99.
Start by Canal will also enable Bouygues subscribers to view content on multiple screens via the myCanal offering. Viewers will have access to Canal+ content on up to two devices simultaneously.
In addition to the Start by Canal offering, Bouygues Telecom is offering three other new services including Le Bouquet TV Bbox Jeunesse, featuring seven kids channels along with kids SVOD service TFou Max, and Playzer, a service featuring video-on-demand clips without advertisng, giving users the ability to create playlists. The third service comprises a 4G key providing 20GB of mobile internet access a month to enable users to connect smartphones, tablets and PCs on the go.
Canal+ has already teamed up with Orange and Free to offer services via their boxes, part of a new strategy aimed at increasing the service’s penetration in the French market.
