Sky is launching its Sky Q 4K UHD TV box in Italy. The advanced TV platform will enable Sky subscribers in Italy to view Sky content on multiple TVs another devices wirelessly in the home.
Sky Italia CEO Andrea Zappia said that the launch of the advanced TV platform in the Italian market marked “a real turning point†for the operator.
Over the coming months, Sky will bring new content and features to the device, including 4K HDR content, the Sky Soundbox device and voice-enabled remote controls.
The main Sky Q Platinum box is able to communicate wirel3ssly with Sky Q Mini devices to distribute content to multiple devices in the home, while the Sky app makes a range of content available on the go while outside the home. The box has a 2TB memory that can record four channels simultaneously.
Channels available outside the home via the Sky Q app include Sky Sports and news channel Sky TG24. New weather channel Sky Meteo24 will also soon be available.
Sky will market the same Devialet-built Soundbox sound bar in Italy as part of the Sky Q launch.
Sky Q Platinum with one Sky Mini box will initially cost €199 to install. Lower cost version Sky Q Black will be launched next spring, following the Platinum rollout. This option enables subscribers to view Sky Q content on their main TV and mobile devices only.
Additional Sky Q Mini boxes are available for a one-off cost of €69.
