Hi i installed an image by japhar and it works great but i have some issues probably due to it being a v2 clone box but i just wanted to confirm i have the latest image as its a bit of a minefield trying to find my way around just now.
I had trouble finding a softcam menu but i managed to install a softcam manager with japhars plugin.
I cant find ftp/telnet, its not in network or anywhere else that i can see.
Had trouble with skins but i have decided to use the skin provided with the image as its ok.
Also having difficulties playing some movies from the hdd = (GStreamer plugin H265 (Main Profile) Decoder not available) but plays ok on genuine boxes and pc.
Openpli4 kernel 3.1.1 Dvb drivers 2014-03-10 python 2.7.3 GStreamer 1.11.0(GIT)
Is there another later image for v2 or anything i can do to fix telnet/ftp/gstreamer etc
Many thanks in advance guys

Thanks admin for a fast response again, that clears things up now and i can move on, its actually a mates box, hes moving away to an area thats not cable tv/d in the area so just rying to get what channels i can and load some films,i use tm 4k and venton, its actually one of 2 clone boxes i bought for mates back in 2011 and i,m positive they are ferrari but i,ll check and mention the chip if they are as i did see them advertised... the real kicker is these 2 boxes have outlasted my brothers and my official duos lol.
Sound works but no picture so i,ll steer clear of 265 videos in the meantime.
Thanks again

I am using putty/wincsp and filezilla for sending large files,i can log into the box no problem and that is the problem, i want to diasble these features when i,m finished for security reasons, lots of dodgy stock routers out there these days whether ports are open or not.
To be fair Admin i have just read a thread from 2013 on the open pli forum so aploigies for my last post, it appears open pli seen a security issue so they took the plugin out, maybe its been addressed in later pli images but thats not an option for me at this time on this particular box.
Samba is the one i wanted to disable the most and i think i may have done it fingers crossed, will test in putty later after a reboot.
In etc/samba/smb.conf i changed some values.
[global] load printers = no guest account = root log file = /tmp/smb.log log level = 1 security = share server string = OpenPLi %h network services workgroup = OpenPLi netbios name = %h case sensitive=yes preserve case=yes short preserve case=yes socket options = TCP_NODELAY preferred master = no oplocks = no
[Root] comment = Everything - take care! path = / read only = no public = no guest ok = no
[Harddisk] comment = The harddisk path = /media/hdd read only = no public = no guest ok = no
In [Root] @ [Harddisk] i changed public and guest to no like above which were all displaying yes.

Yes, Samba is a different feature than FTP/Telnet. It is a security issue if you keep open all your ports on internet of your box, definitely.
Most probably you can disable samba, just in the configuration of samba.

Thanks for your input toysoft, i was not too worried about telnet/ftp as i have changed default pass and no ports to the box will be open to the box ever but samba is a different story as you say.
I dont know which country you are from yourself toysoft but here in Britain most stock routers here are garbage which is why i have always used open source routers,, just last week i noticed at a mates that an internet provider here called talk talk have samba enabled as default along with upnp which is just stupid.
So my point is if samba is enabled on a router then external hackers from pretty much anywhere on the planet will be able to get in if samba is enabled on the box without any external ports being opened and then do pretty much what they like to stuff the box in question up..particularly an old image from 2014 but thats what my mate will have to deal with...not my box.

The main problem on past months was the OpenSSH problem, as everyone could enter an SSH port without password, due to some bugs on the protocol. There is a lot of things around as well, https://www.deepdotweb.com/2017/07/22/wikileaks-exposes-cias-ssh-hacks-windows-linux/The important is to have a Firewall that just blocks anything that comes in without being request by the internal network.
