Mini Vu+ Duo Although it's not a box which sold much (I think) but it's a rock steady box when it has no issues. But you could have the bad luck that the security chip fails which results into death tuner problem. If that is the case then you could consider to remove the security chip and add some wires to it for adding a socket. Then you are be able to bring your box back to life, with the use of the security chip modules from the other clone vu boxes, or to use the latest Vu J chip module so that you can enjoy the latest software. It's not a easy job because the chip has been placed on the print side, and you need at least connect the Sda/Scl wires to the solder pins. But, it can be done, just as I did. Good luck... To give some more info about this...
Q: there is no need to replace the cristal... A: Only the chip needs to be removed, as for the rest you could leave as it is.
Some notes, In order to use these VuJ chip you need the module version and thus also need to mount a connector for it. Keep the wires long so that you are be able to connect the VuJ board on the parts side. Also, solder the wires as given on the drawing, use at least the four wires 3.3v/Gnd/Sda/Scl, the Rx/Tx are basically not needed because this box will work without them. The ground and 3.3v can also been taken from the parts side, only the Sda/Scl wires needs to be soldered on the print side.
One note... Do not drill any hole trough the board to bring the sda/scl wires to the surface, you could end up with a death box due the multiplayer's board.
