The 14-pin flat ribbon cable that has the decoder to display the first red stripe refers as No. 1 for the connector ?

The ribbon cable from the front panel is not really a good reference on the red wire. If the ribbon cable is connected differently on the front panel, the motherboard side will than also be different. But it should have to give no damage when it's connected wrong, because the 14v pin comes at both sides on a pin which is not connected, and thus the front panel is not powered.
But it is of course better to avoid it, take a note, or picture from it before you remove it.
Because with every box, it depends how it is connected to the front panel, as you can see on this two pictures.
