May be you can help me by identifying the version of my solo and most important help me with the latest possible image to use.
Only very old original blackhole 1.6.1 OE1.6 kernel 3.1.1 works for me all other recent images for ferrai V2 & V3 doesn't work for me, it's remain on blackscreen after the flash

This is a V1-V2 chip, so if it's not programmed to V2 you can program it, or if it's already programmed you can directly Flash a Ferrari V2 image.

Hi,

A long time ago I've done this with these files and steps.
But there are also risks, it can happen that you changed your box into a brick, or may ruin the security chip.
It is also possible that if it goes wrong you must perform the JTAG method to bring the box back to life.
Also be sure that your chip is a v1 chip, best is to check it with a v2 image file before you do these process.

But still, if you do this, do it at your own risk, it was a long time ago that I did it which in my case succeded.

These files were once available on the Dreambox china forum, and there were some users who had issues to complete all the steps.

Anyway, these are the instructions and files for an upgrade of a Ferrari security chip v1 to v2 version.
In order to be able to make use of the v2a image files.
The whole is in the zip file.

Instructions are..

This is for old ferrari security chips, V1-V2 to upgrade for using v2a images.
All must be done with the rs232 cable + adapter with the exception of step 5 and 6.

DO THIS :
Step 1 -installing the soloboot.bin with UpdateAllFlash.exe
Step 2 -installing the UPFLASH120227.bin with renewflash.exe
Step 3 -Erase the memory with ERASE126.exe
Step 4 -installing the Secret SOLO-120229.bin with secupd111230.exe
Step 5 -installing the cfe_solo_2.0 with a usb pen drive
Step 6 -installing a image v2a with the usb pen drive

Steps 1, 3, 4 First activate the uploader, then Power ON solo receiver.
You will see update progress bar- Wait till it finish and then close it.
Power OFF the box.
Goto the next step.

Step 3 First Power ON solo receiver, then activate the eraser.
Wait till it finish and then close it.
Power OFF the box.
Goto the next step.

Yes it is always difficult with newer computers / laptops that they have no serial port.

And for a good and reliable success you need a computer / laptop with a real comport and wxp system.
Many have already gone in the failure by trying it with a USB to serial cable and W7.
I myself always use an old laptop with a real serial port and Windows XP for these jobs.

Regarding the adapter .., it is also easy to make, even without the board, a direct cable.
You need two DB9 female connectors where the computer side pin 2 goes to the box pin 6.
And computer side pin 3 to the box pin 4.
And the computer side pin 5 (gnd) to pin 5 of the box.

Hello,
I found in my office a very old desktop with Serial port I adapt my RS232 cable as explained but no communication between the box and computer!
I could not bring this desktop at home and go more in testing!
So will try later to reprogram it.
But now I succeed to install this image BlackHole-2.1.0.1-vusolo_usb_Ferrari_V3.zip the Vu+ can start normally and fully accessible but not channel can be detected, the signal is fixed on 99% without detecting any channel! Can you help to fix this please?

Try the V2 versions, as some clones are not capable of running the V3 Ferrari patched drivers.

Back to you once again :-)

I have two sympthomes with all images (excepte original images BH 1.6.6)
With images V2 & V3 the box turn on but the tuner is fixed on 99% signal witout any channel detection Or the box turn on, the led green is on but the screen remain black a test with hdmi and scart!
No way to have OE2.0 images
Any further idea please ?

Images Ferrari V2 works very fine now and the box is running now with BH 2.1.0.1
